Description:
The Dualfred ULM1-OM5E is a modified Ortofon OM5E cartridge. The top plate is a replica of the original ULM1 mounting plate, for direct fit to the above mentioned turntable models. It is made of the high tech plastic material POM on a CNC milling machine. The mountig thread is a metal insert. This top plate is not a cheap 3D-printed part!
The cartridge connection pis have the standard diameter of 1.3mm. So the 4 pole adaptor (which is sometimes installed) at the tonearm cables is not needed. It can be left out and the cables can be directly connected to the cartridge (refer picture 3).
Attention: The standard versions of CS714Q and CS731Q were equiped with a ULM60 cartridge, mounted on a so called TK26 fastening. The plug at this TK26 does only support small cartridge pins with 1mm diameter. So it does not work with the Dualfred ULM1-cartridges. There is a so called TK27 fastening (Dual # 266606), which was also standard at the MC-versions of the Dual CS714 and 731. This fastening supports the standard pin diameter. Refer also picture 3!
Cartridge height and stylus position of the Dualfred ULM1-cartridges are exactly the same like the original Dual ULM-Types. There is no adjustment of the cartrige position necessary. The mass is ~2.7 gramms, which is almost the same as the original Dual ULM-cartridges with Ortofon bodies. So there are no additional weight plates at the counter weight needed.
The technical data are the same as the original Ortofon OM5E, except weight and dimensions. It is possible to install all Ortofon OM-series stylus to the ULM1-OM5E. So the spare stylus support is non critical. The usage of higher grade stylus of the Ortofon OM-series offers a simple upgrade opportunity.
